The term hemangioendothelioma is used to describe various types of vascular tumors. This tumor is called epithelioid hemangioendothelioma because it contains blood vessels and surrounding epithelioid cells. Blood vessels are lined with epithelioid cells that grow abnormally to form a tumor. It is one of the rare tumors in the liver. The majority of these tumors are benign, but they also carry the risk of becoming cancerous. Although teenagers and young adults are most commonly affected, epithelioid hemangioendothelioma can occur in any age group.
