Prof. Dr. Mert Erkan

In 1995, Prof. Dr. Mert Erkan graduated from Istanbul University Çapa Faculty of Medicine and completed his General Surgery Residency at the same university in 2001. After working as a postdoctoral researcher in the molecular biology laboratory of the European Pancreas Center at Heidelberg University between 2003-2007, Prof. Dr. Mert Erkan joined the Department of Surgery at the Technical University of Munich in 2007. Simultaneously, he was the group leader of the Tumour Microenvironment and Stroma department and completed his subspecialty in Digestive System Surgery in Germany in 2010. Prof. Dr. Mert Erkan, who became the director of the surgical service at the Technical University of Munich, became Associate Professor at the same university in 2011 and Head of the Department of Pancreatic Surgery in 2013. Prof. Erkan has been working at Acıbadem University Atakent Hospital since 2021. Prof. Erkan is on the scientific and advisory board of the European-African Hepato-Pancreas-Biliary Society (E-AHPBA).
